We have witnessed and experienced the effects of state sanctioned violence against African-americans, native-americans, women, immigrants, muslims, and GBLT people. To provide the necessary space for people to come together, respond, and empower each other to act in new and creative ways we need Social Emergency Response Centers (SERCs).
I emergencies like hurricanes and tsunamis, emergency response centers exist to coordinate evacuations or provide services like temporary housing, food, and water. We want to reimagine response centers to take on the real and pressing social emergencies we face today.
On May 27 (from 5:00pm to 9:00pm) and 28th (from 10 am to 5 m) @digaai and the Design Studio for Social Interventions @ds4si will collaborate on a SERC at the Digaai Space – 151 Pearl Street, Boston.
In the agenda are a series of artistic performances such as capoeira, Caribbean music, Japanese drums, face painting, silkscreen, video documentary, story mapping, conversations, and many other activities.
